Time for flowers

The powder puff tree that grows in our front garden was the inspiration for this experiment.

Attending a 3-day workshop by tutor Jane Sassaman a few weeks ago, we were encouraged to bring a flower and then abstract it whilst retaining its essence.

I must say I really enjoyed creating abstracted imagery, based upon an “examination” of the real thing.

This is my result.

The colours are really striking and I’m impressed by the shapes and layout of the textile leaves. It has a hint of ancient Egyptian papyrus glyphs .

This is interesting to see the real flower and your abstraction of it…thanks for sharing!
