Ready for 2013!

September 24, 2012

Not that I want this year to pass by too quickly, I must admit it is speeding by and I am getting ready for 2013.

Maybe this is partly caused by making these colourful book covers – such glorious jewel shades,  enhanced by the Indian theme.

The cotton fabric was dyed during a fun day with Tracey and my friends at Marion’s Bower Retreat – then we stamped pieces of fabric with acrylic paints, then we cut and stitched.

This is the result!    Don’t you just love ’em?

Living it up….dyeing!

Joining “The Daughters of Dowling” group for a day of dyeing was such a colourful event.

Under the expert teaching of Tracey (see her photo) we dipped, twiddled, hung out to dry, before stamping our fabric pieces into a very professional looking book cover.

We were also blessed by the peace and beauty of being at Marion’s Bower Retreat (http://www.retreat2maincreek) – where the colours we created were nothing compared to the wandering peacocks.

Marion’s cooking was to dye for!   Lunch was finished off with her sumptuous creme brulee deserts.
I left the Bower feeling very contented and ready to complete my book cover at home.  Photo’s are coming soon…………..so please watch this space.

Cooking with colour!

Using mostly fabric scraps, randomly cutting them into odd sized strips, a few early Christmas gifts have been made.

A bonus from the unwanted strips became a few drink coasters.
