This time I set myself the task of experimenting using the colour purple.
These have fans – so it seems purple is a popular colour. More experimentation is going to happen – I am hooked on dyeing silk! I encourage you to try it – as it is not difficult to do and is sooooo satisfying. Especially when people I show them to want to have them.
Having the pleasure of attending a workshop by Rae Woolnough of Sydney, I learnt so much about dyeing silk and felting woollen rovings. This is just one sample of a piece I produced at Rae’s workshop. More coming soon….
Watching the bird life in Dungog, provides the opportunity to see how time flies!
Along with my colleagues in the Daughters of Dowling embroiders group, I was inspired to create this piece.
The bird was composed entirely of different fabrics fused onto a supportive fabric, and then stitched onto the background fabric. Machine and hand stitches were worked into this piece to portray gum leaves.
All beading was hand stitched. This is a change of style for me and I enjoyed exploring this application.
