Hand dyed silk screened cotton aprons

December 30, 2014

Christmas presents made for friends included these two aprons.

I created thermofax screens at home using my sketches of herbs from our garden.

One apron was printed with thickened procion MX dyes, the other printed with textile paint.

The thickened dyes produced a softer image, whilst paint gave a crisper line.

Here is the completed bag that was an outcome from reading Isobel Hall’s fantastic book….

and from attending two of Isobel Hall’s workshops when she visited Oz.

The bag reasonably durable despite its papery finish.

Now all my friends want one!

Dungog’s Chronicle

December 7, 2014

Here’s recycling at its best!   After reading the local newspaper the front page was transformed by stitch.  Here is the effect of paper over deconsructed screen printed cotton fabric.

This will become a bag…..a photo will soon show you the result, so do come back.
