Here is my wet workspace, situated under our house.
Its large functional space has good light and air, is adjacent to a clothes line and garden. Home again after attending the workshop by Els Van Baarle you can see from these pics where I have started to repeat some of the exercises.
This is just a start of an attractive adventure using wax dyes & print.
This sample is on cotton overlaid with silk organza, which gives a subtle effect. More work to be done to produce a satisfying outcome….it needs some thinking time!
Three days workshop under the tutorship of Els Van Baarle, textile artist from the Netherlands was absolute magic. Working on paper and fabric, we applied many layers of dye, wax, print to create complexity of design. Drizzling rain did little to dampen our efforts.
The process of application was patiently demonstrated by Els, then we were free to apply the techniques using our own style of design & ideas. The solid foundation of technique was achieved over the three days, and our class enjoyed playing with ideas. Here are some of my efforts, some which were completed once home again.
More to come!
