The beauty of Tassie’s Tarkine Wilderness inspired my collage of paint, fabric & stitch.

Hills and Dales

August 6, 2016

Painting is such a relaxing activity.

These landscapes were painted using my watercolours (professional series) onto pure silk fabric.

Embellished with silk rods and my hand dyed threads.

Finally I ‘drew’ into the framed image using Hand stitch.

Stitching has an equally meditative effect in on my being.

Time with Felt & Stitch

February 24, 2016

Having been asked to create a handmade wall piece to hang  in  a local farmhouse, my recent time has gone into wet felting and then stitching to create texture and visual interest in this piece.

The request was to portray a feeling of country landscape, using a contemporary approach.

This photo gives you a glimpse of my work in progress, before completion.

I welcome your comments.

2016 Creative Pathways

January 8, 2016

Major major PC problem made quiet times in blog land.

But ideas have been brewing in the winds of creativity.

The tinkering of possibilities are being considered for one ( perhaps two) exhibitions in 2016.

I will be back to share tasters of these creative possibilities.

Happy new year to you.

Felt Brooches

May 10, 2015

Dusting off the embellishing (needle punching) machine it was time to create more brooches.

Working on a piece of pre-felt that I created some time back, I attached pieces of fabric, yarn, and needled these in, followed by stitch to ensure good anchorage.

Next it was time to air my lovely wooden button collection, and beautiful beads, to sit quietly with needle and thread.

I like the organic nature of these… you?

More travel stitching

November 28, 2014

IMG_3511A brief visit to Newcastle meant my fingers were busy again stitching with hand-dyed thread (with Procion MX dye).    This is the outcome.

Time now at home, creating lovelies for Dungog’s monthly market on Saturday 8th December.  Pictures will be posted here shortly!  So please come back.

Crochet for the kitchen!

Fell in love with this yarn made from pineapples!    Made this a little bag to hang garlic in the kitchen.
